Congenital Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in Mucolipidosis III

Abstract

|
Carpal tunnel syndrome is one of the most common problems seen by the hand surgeon. In spite of its frequent occurrence, congenital carpal tunnel syndrome in children is not well known due to its rarity. So far only 37 cases are described in children and adolescents.
Two patients with congenital carpal tunnel syndrome associated with mucolipidosis from the same family are reported. Diagnosis was documented by physical findings and electro diagnostic test. Surgical release of the carpal tunnel produced dramatic relief of symptoms.
